FAQ

Is Ali good in Gakuran?
The September 2026 tier consensus ranks Ali S-tier — the top band alongside WingChun and Kure. It is a counter-puncher's kit: parry for a damage buff, dodge into a counter, and move through attacks with i-frames. The catch is availability, not power.
How rare is Ali in Gakuran?
Ali rolls in the Secret (???) band at 0.025% per roll in the September 2026 full style list — one in four thousand rerolls on average. Note that other trackers report the whole ??? band at 0.05% combined after an August retune, so treat every figure as community-reported.
What height is best for Ali in Gakuran?
The official card recommends a short build, around 4'11"–5'3" (149–160 cm). Tall builds stay viable for reach, but medium builds are explicitly not recommended — one of the few height calls that strong anywhere in the game.
What are Ali's perks in Gakuran?
Five, per the official card: Counterstrike (+5% damage on your next attack after a parry), Float Like a Butterfly (i-frames through the crit windup), Sting Like a Bee (an evasive dodge opens your own counter), Guard Pierce III (20% block chip), and Resilience II (25% grapple clash chance).

What Is the Ali Style in Gakuran?

Ali is the elite boxing archetype at the top of the September 2026 tier consensus — fluid footwork, rapid strikes, devastating counterpunches — and, at 0.025% per roll, the rarest pull in the game alongside WingChun and CQC. It arrived with the August content wave (added as the first style in the new Secret ”???” band above Legendary, per the official card transcriptions), and it is one of the few styles with per-style heavy-attack keybinds published rather than the universal one-button heavy.

Ali’s 5 Perks, From the Official Card

The card names all five perks in prose, and three of them (Counterstrike, Guard Pierce III, Resilience II) are independently corroborated by the board’s own Combat cards plus the community wiki’s Ali page:

PerkEffect
Counterstrike+5% damage on your next attack after a successful parry
Float Like a ButterflyI-frames through the crit windup — shuffle straight through whatever is thrown at you
Sting Like a BeeDodging an attack with your evasive opens your own counter immediately
Guard Pierce III20% of your damage chips through a raised block
Resilience II25% chance a simultaneous-attack clash becomes a grapple

The heavy-attack system is where Ali stops resembling the rest of the roster: the Left Hand Heavy is your standard M2, while the Right Hand Heavy (performed with D or S+R held) ragdolls the opponent — and the community wiki adds that a perfect dodge triggers a counterattack that lands automatically. Every piece rewards reading the opponent: parry, dodge, punish, repeat. That is the whole identity, and it is why the kit demands more of the player than a pressure style like Kure.

Is Ali Good in Gakuran?

S-tier by consensus, with one honest asterisk: community Mishima comparisons report that Mishima’s M1 chain is faster than Ali’s, with a safer critical — and Mishima is the style September chatter keeps calling the real meta peak. Against the rest of the field, Ali’s mix of i-frames, counter windows, and chip damage is as complete as kits get. The real barrier is the roll: 0.025% per roll with no pity system means the reroll guide math, not the matchup chart, decides whether you ever land one.

The Height Call Worth Knowing Before You Roll

Ali’s card carries the most aggressive height recommendation of any style: short, around 4’11”–5’3”, with tall builds called viable for reach and medium builds explicitly not recommended. Since rerolls redraw appearance alongside style, an Ali roll on the wrong body is a real possibility — the height guide shows how every style’s official build compares before you commit.

Ali FAQ

Ali vs Kure — which S-tier should I chase?

Ali has the higher ceiling and the far worse odds: 0.025% versus Kure’s 0.20%. Kure’s kit is also more forgiving — stacked passives versus Ali’s timing-driven counters. If you cannot afford a four-thousand-roll average, the Kure guide is the realistic S-tier plan.

What is Ali's dual-heavy system?

Two heavies on one style: the Left Hand Heavy is the plain M2 that stuns, and the Right Hand Heavy — thrown while holding D or with S+R — ragdolls instead, per the card transcription and the community wiki. It is the only kit reviewed here with that split, so relearn your heavy timing after switching styles.

Do Ali's perks punish spam?

They punish everything, but especially parry-bait: Counterstrike pays you for parrying, Sting Like a Bee pays you for clean dodges, and Float Like a Butterfly lets you force the issue through an opponent’s defense. The fight loop guide covers the inputs each perk keys off.
